Dancing devils of Corpus Christi refers to a set of popular religious manifestations of Venezuela held in Corpus Christi in various regions by different groups which together make brotherhoods celebrating Christ's presence in the Blessed Sacrament of the Eucharist according to the doctrine of Catholicism. Generally refers to 11 brotherhoods that include more than 5,000 people, among which the best known is that of the Dancing Devils of Yare. These manifestations were recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2012. == History == Grouped in brotherhood, kept as founded since the mid seventeenth century on state farms Aragua and Vargas〔 It is known that already in 1749 was celebrated on the day of Corpus Christi when men, women and children dressed as devils to fulfill promises made to Blessed Sacrament. Although we cannot determine a unique and certain root, by nature of oral tradition, the dancers Devils Corpus Christi they have attributed different origins. A story about the brotherhood of San Francisco de Yare says that 400 years ago, a priest without money or believers for the procession of Corpus Christi said: "If there is no money believers to take the procession of the Blessed Sacrament, then come devils!". After a storm several devils front of the church were presented. Regarding other than the Yare brotherhoods are some references as in the novel ''Peonía'' of the writer Manuel Vicente Romero García describing in a clear and illustrative manner how the dancers were devils Cúa in the 1870s.
